Judge
McFarland has served as a visiting Judge on the Supreme Court
of Ohio and on the 10th District Court of Appeals. The Judge
previously served as the Magistrate in Scioto County Common
Pleas Court Probate/Juvenile Division, and as Chairman Ohio
Association of Magistrates, Juvenile Section. Prior to serving
on the bench, Judge McFarland was a Scioto County Assistant
Prosecutor and acted as Special Counsel for the Ohio Attorney
General. He also was a Licking County Assistant County Prosecutor
and had his own private practice.
Judge
McFarland is an Adjunct Professor for Shawnee State University,
and formerly taught constitutional law at Capital University.
Judge McFarland has served on the Wheelersburg Local Board of
Education. Presently, he is a member of the B.P.O.E Lodge 154
and the Wheelersburg Kiwanis. He attends Wheelersburg Cornerstone
Church of the Nazarene with his family.
Judge
McFarland was recognized in 2004 by the Ohio State Bar Foundation
with the Outstanding Community Service Award for Lawyers 40
and under. In 2006, he received the Vern Riffe Leadership Award
in recognition for outstanding service to Scouting and the community.
Judge McFarland was also selected as the Capital University
Law School's Young Alumnus of the Year for 2008. This award
was created in 2006 for young alumnus who have made significant
achievements in the legal occupation and have made notable contributions
to the legal profession and the community. He is an Eagle Scout
and continues to be active by coaching area youth sports.
The
Judge resides in Scioto County with his wife and family.
